DRC Solutions to Lead Flora Brewer Bridge Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DRC SOLUTIONS TO LEAD SUPPORTIVE SERVICES IN NEW FORT WORTH INITIATIVE FOR UNSHELTERED OLDER ADULTS

FORT WORTH, TX — October 28, 2026 — DRC Solutions is proud to announce its role in the newly approved Flora Brewer Bridge Program, a collaborative initiative aimed at helping some of Fort Worth's oldest and most vulnerable unsheltered neighbors transition into safe, stable housing with individualized support.

Approved by the Fort Worth City Council on October 27, the program brings together DRC Solutions, the City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Housing Solutions, and the Flora Fund through the North Texas Community Foundation to provide housing and supportive services to 105 individuals age 55 and older experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

The initiative comes at a critical time for Fort Worth. Since 2020, the city's unsheltered homeless population has increased by approximately 70%, with 1,083 individuals identified during the January 2026 Point-in-Time Count. Among individuals served by DRC's street outreach team, 34% are age 55 or older, while 42% have experienced homelessness for more than five years.

DRC Solutions will serve as the program's supportive services provider, coordinating services from initial street outreach engagement through housing placement and ongoing case management. DRC's Street Outreach team will identify eligible individuals, build relationships, assist with obtaining critical documents, and help participants overcome barriers to housing.

Once housed, participants will receive individualized case management focused on maintaining housing stability, accessing healthcare, developing independent living skills, and securing benefits such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. These services will help participants access the resources and ongoing care needed for long-term stability.

“Through our street outreach work, DRC sees firsthand the challenges older adults face while experiencing homelessness. We’re excited to partner with the City of Fort Worth and North Texas Community Foundation on the Flora Brewer Bridge Program to create more housing opportunities for this particularly vulnerable population. Helping our neighbors move off the streets and into stable housing not only changes individual lives, but creates a healthier, stronger community for everyone,” said Tony Wilson, Executive Director of DRC Solutions.

Fort Worth Housing Solutions has committed 105 rental assistance vouchers to the program, while the City of Fort Worth and the Flora Fund will provide matching funding for supportive services over the next five years. The first housing placements are anticipated in January 2027, with the program expected to reach 105 participants over approximately 18 months.

Named in honor of the late Dr. Flora Brewer, a dedicated local advocate for housing and homelessness services, the program continues her legacy by addressing the unique needs of older adults who may face significant health challenges and limited opportunities to regain stability through employment alone.

Through the Flora Brewer Bridge Program, DRC Solutions looks forward to expanding access to housing and providing the individualized support older adults need to achieve lasting stability.
