Permanent Supportive Housing
"Permanent Supportive Housing is an intervention that combines affordable housing assistance with voluntary support services to address the needs of chronically homeless people. The services are designed to build independent living and tenancy skills, and connect people with community-based health care, treatment, and employment services.” -National Alliance to End Homelessness
People who qualify for Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) have faced many challenges. To qualify for PSH assistance, an individual or household must have experienced 12 consecutive months of homelessness or 3 episodes of homelessness in the past four years that total 12 months, and at least one household member must live with a disabling condition as verified by a medical professional. These individuals and households require additional assistance to ensure they maintain housing.
