Carl R. Brumley
Carl R. Brumley was a mountain of a man to his family and friends. He embraced life, served others intentionally, cherished community involvement, and followed Jesus. He was a strong man and had a gift for joy.
Carl was born in Memphis, Texas and raised in Austin, as an Austin High graduate. He was an Eagle Scout, embodying the principles of trust, loyalty, kindness, and reverence. He earned a BBA degree from The University of Texas, and remained a Texas Fiji and Longhorn forever.
Carl and his wife Mary Alice share a family of six children, enjoy 17 grandchildren, and cherish 8 great-grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to be part of their lives and share his faith and love of Jesus Christ. He inspired all who knew him.
Carl dedicated his life to volunteer service, chairing and serving on the Union Gospel Mission Board for almost 30 years. He led and guided Dallas and Fort Worth Young Life boards for many years. People often sought him for wisdom and counsel in Bible studies and church service.
Carl’s patriotism shone through as he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He then embarked on a 66-year insurance career, working with Higginbotham & Associates in Fort Worth for 44 years, forming lifelong friends.
Carl epitomized vibrant living through diverse pursuits. As a sports enthusiast, he engaged in hunting, fishing, skiing, and golf. He explored the arts by painting, needlepoint, and woodworking. Gardening, pickleball, and global travel enriched his life. His creative spirit knew no bounds.
As Carl would say, Have a good and Godly day!
